The romance of almost every seaside Boardwalk I've ever seen can be as beguiling and sensous to me as Springsteen's haunting Boardwalk melodies. The smell of the salty sea air, the daring ariel dances of the seaguls and the Art Deco indulgences of this place - Playland - have delighted and intrigued me since I first rode the carousel there when I was three years old. Childhood images of the place are forever etched into the depths of my mind's eye. I've found that images created with Infrared Film manage to capture some of the magic of my long ago memories of the place.
So... think about it. Something in the magical light of sunset on the Boardwalk manages to conjure up a magical moment for you. All of a sudden, you find yourself following in the movie footsteps of Tom Hanks. You actually find that Amazing Zoltar machine on the Boardwalk and you're standing right in front of Zoltar, ready to deposit your coin in the slot. Go ahead.
You can... make a wish. For anything. You can... wish your present life away. Be... Big. Be... little. Be... rich. Be... a movie star. Or, you can walk away and forget all about Zoltar's magic. Go walk along the Boardwalk alone. Throw some bread to the gulls. Watch the tide roll in. Or, you can... ask Zoltar to let you take a chance in the Tunnel of Love. You can... walk along the Boardwalk with someone new. Or... be with that someone new naked on a beach in the South of France. Or, Tahiti. You can... ask Zoltar for a case of lobsters and a big bag of tasty salt water taffy... and then, head home to your family. Or... you can ask Zoltar to let you cross the mighty ocean and sail away. Forever. Think about it.
So... what would you do?
